The Change - February, 2005: Frightened masses of common people, driven to riot by the subconcious compulsion that seems to grip the LA area anytime something goes wrong, swarmed into the affluent and rarified areas of Los Angeles, intent on burning and looting. The sudden revaltion that Hugh Hefner was really a lich, and had been one for some time, took many by surprise as he defended the Playboy mansion and his bunnies with a barrage of offensive & defensive spells, all while wearing his trademark satin bathrobe. Several stars took shelter there during the Change, and presumably went with him when he took the entire mansion with him, back to his home plane. Some stars were able to charm their way to safety, others actively sought the protection of the Ka forces (a side effect of running to their agent's office in search of a hiding place). Many stars died when the central offices of the Church of Scientology were leveled by a group of wasters belonging to the Church of the SubGenius and the Temple Ov Thee Psychic Youth. The few who survive are working with Ka (as if they had a choice!) to rebuild the entertainment industry. Ka wants it's slaves to work hard all day and watch television contently at night. If the megastars don't want to be ordered to pull gold fillings from the teeth of corpses or other, less savory duties, they obey their new masters with varying degrees of enthusiasm. Less well-known stars may be found working in all mannerof entertainment venues, doing their best to keep the masses happy. The masses of aspiring stars and perrenial hopefuls, teeming pile of insecure neurotics with high attention needs, were pushed towards a form that reflected their inner nature. Something small, of little consequence, easily replaced, forgettable, eager to please, and desperatly seeking recognition and protection by those more powerful. The natural tendency of aspiring actors to stab each other in the back for a part came into play - they became creatures that are small and nasty, petty, and mean. They became kobolds. |
